"These photos capture a family in constant motion in a single moment in time - a family, born and created - grandparents and grandchildren, parents and children - life partners in love for over half a century, new romances, new boyfriends joining in - changing careers, lives facing new adventures just beginning, lives reflecting a legacy and wisdom that only comes with time..
We are college students, public servants, ministers, professionals, and active military. We don’t all like the same music, we don’t all vote the same, but there is a togetherness in family that looks beyond the differences to a common familial bond - a shared love for each other and a deep desire to be together.
Family - community - standing together against the forces of anger and division tearing at the fabric of society – these are the values I hold dear and fight daily for. We all need to find our people and then find moments to be together, to laugh, to cry, to feast, and to love deeply.
We all need to know we matter to somebody - unconditionally. There is so much hurt in the world, so much loneliness, so many ugly things ripping us apart. No one should stand alone. My life is given to encouraging and pulling people together to experience the wonder of friendship and community, and this captured moment in time reflects the best of that. I’m blessed to call these people family.
Oh, and the kids may not all agree, but when you throw a mandolin into the mix, everything is just that much sweeter.”
